Oldboy

Director
- Park Chan-Wook

Genre - Drama/Mystery/Thriller

Park Chan-Wook's most notorious and remarkable film to date. Once you have watched this, you are never the same anymore. It's like going from cigarettes to taking drugs in a blink of an eye. Emotionally charged, it goes from being graceful to downright scary and back again, leaving you disturbed forever. Leading actor Choi Min-Sik is spectacular in a role that few actors could even imagine playing.

5 STARS!

Thanks for your comment, indeed Solondz's vision and integrity are to be highly admired! Nice choice of moviemakers you have there. I'm sure you are more than familiar with other auteurs such as Harmony Korine, Gaspar Noe, Andrei Tarkovsky, and other luminaries that do not appear on your list.

Oldboy was interesting. I was most taken with the very intense portrayal of the character Dae-su himself.
Yup, thanks for reminding.

Fantastic film. I saw a poster the other day for "Bangkok Dangerous" with Nicholas Cage. If I'm correct in my assumption it is the remake of this...God help us all.

Though my favorite in the series would happen to be "Lady Vengeance".

By way of thanks I'll post a comment in your blog in the review of the same film.

Thanks for the comment, this is one of my favourite films and your review (and subsequent rating) do it justice.

I saw this because you said it was good.

Holy balls, this movie was brilliant. The plot twists were retarded, and in such a good way. I love the way that almost everything that happened was odd, until the end, when everything made sense.

Park Chan Wook is amazing. He is 100% brilliant with his stuff that I've seen. Have you seen any of his other movies? What are your recommendations?
We're glad you enjoyed 'Oldboy'. You can also check out 'Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance' and 'I'm A Cyborg But That's Ok' (we've review this). :)
