Director - J.J. Abrams
Genre - Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi
Will this revive the franchise and give Trekkies the world over woodies? Well, we're not Trekkies but this movie is a brave attempt at boldly going there. It certainly piqued our interests, what with the shiny new starships, unembarrassing uniform (the old ones looked like they were designed for cyclists entering Tour De France) and better looking casts. What it lacked though, was a great story. Did anyone notice the similarity between the storyline here and Season 4 of Lost? J.J. Abrams must have run out of ideas because it certainly killed our participation to a large extend. In any case, this is an introduction to a (we hope) better film in the horizon.

It's great they shook things up, but if there isn't a return to the tried and true principles at least to a small degree in the next movie, you'll lose the die hard fans.
Though, in all honesty, I'd like to see the old history "rewritten" so that Romulans become Federation allies due to these first movie events and that ultimately Star Fleet goes to war with the Klingons. Because a war with Klingons would be awesome.
Ok, time to put my Star Trek nerd back in its packaging. :-)
